If you are on a budget, willing to spare more money & time to outdoor activities or clubbing, and only staying in Athens for a night or two, you can accomodate yourself pretty cheaply as there are convenient metro stations that can get you to Monastiraki, Syntagma and the Acropolis in a matter of minutes.
1Hotel Phaedra
Sitting in the heart of the Plaka, this is one of the best located ones among Athens’ cheap hotels. A popular pedestrian street welcomes you at the door. Moreover, the Acropolis takes 12 minutes on foot, Acropolis Museum is just a 4-minute walk, and Hadrian’s Arch can be reach by 3-4 minutes of walking as well. Single, double, and family rooms are available.
2Hotel Attalos
The Hotel Attalos is more than a plain, 3-Star hotel located in the center of Athens. The hotel’s modern facilities including 80 rooms, all with air-conditioning, cable tv, a secure safe, hair dryer and en-suite bath. Furthermore, a garden terrace on rooftop provides a fantastic view of the Acropolis, Lycabetus Hill and a panorama of Athens in general. Located on Athinas Street 2 blocks from the Central Market & metro station; the flea market, Constitution Square, the Acropolis and the Athens’ many museums are all within walking distance. The Breakfast is 9 euros extra per person but totally worths it by variety. Remember that Hotel Attalos draw attention, so book a room as early as you can!
3Hotel Adonis
This is a modern hotel in Plaka that offers a free buffet breakfast each day, easy access to public transit hubs, views of the Acropolis from the rooftop terrace, and balconies in every guestroom. Numerous historical sites can be visited by walking. Indeed, Acropolis takes 15 min, whereas a trip to the National Garden and the Temple of Olympian Zeus don’t take even 10 minutes.

It’s a value hotel with a free buffet breakfast and a rooftop terrace offering a view of the Acropolis as well. It’s literally just steps away from numerous cafes, markets, and bars since it’s located a 5-minute walk (400m) to Monastiraki Square & Flea Market, and the Metro Station. 5The Athens Edition Luxury Suites
It’s a comfortable, mid-range hotel for its scale, and it’s adjacent to Monastiraki Flea Market, with incredible Acropolis views from the rooftop terrace too. Recently-renovated rooms feature air-conditioning and kitchenettes. Walking takes 2 minutes to the Ancient Agora, 7 minutes to the Temple of Hephaestus, and 3 minutes to Thissio metro station.
6Marble House
This budget friendly guesthouse is located a 12-minute walk (850m) to the Acropolis Museum and Filopappou Hill, and it takes a 18-minute walk (1.2km) to the Acropolis & the Parthenon. Public transport is just steps away. In addition to free on-site parking, some rooms welcomes you with balconies and private bathrooms, and continental breakfast is available for a reasonable fee.
7Philippos Hotel
Free breakfast is available each day, and on-site amenities include a rooftop terrace and restaurant, a bar, and a stylish lobby. Acropolis views and balconies are present in some rooms. The Acropolis itself is just 10-min away on foot.
